1st afs bandung selection

ok. first of all, i really want to THANK MY GOD for letting me to pass the 1st afs bandung selection alhamdulillah

well, as i promised myself before, i’m gonna tell ya ‘bout 1st afs bandung selection thingy.

hm. first, you must register to ‘Bina Budaya’ which is the only partner of afs in Indonesia. Well, in afs bandung 2010, the office of bina budaya is in jalan ariajipang no.6 . near gedung sate. it could be changed each year. all you have to do is just buy the form (about Rp 30.000. snack and the question sheet include) and collect the requirement (your school certificate, passport [only if you have], blue stof-map, your SKHU and SKHUN, 9th grade report, photo 4x6 and 3x4, birth certificate, 10th grade report [1st semester], and a letter from headmaster which explain that you trully are a senior high school student). remember you have to be sure the date you can register and the date you have to give the form back. usually, you’ll be given a week to complete all your requirement.

then, there’d be an open house from afs. you could visit it to make afs thingy much clearer.

well, when you have known the date of the test, you come earlier, an hour before the test is enough, (don’t be late of course) and take your badge in front office. the front office could be whatever. i mean, it’s based on the place where you do the test. if it’s a school like me, it could be in the yard, or the teacher room, or a classroom. it could be whatever

oh ya, why you have to come earlier ? because, you have to find the room where you do the test. when i did the test, the hardest thing beside the test was finding my room. yeah, silly. moreover, when you come late, the taking-badge-queue would be very berry long that takes so much energy. you’d be on bad mood, trust me.

well, the test would take all day long. and it’d be held in public holiday so the canteen must be closed. you gotta bring your own food. but if you’re too lazy, you could order food from the committee. in my year, it was hoka hoka bento :3 yummyy

well, how about the test ?

yeah well, first is essay. You have to pick one topic (JUST ONE not all of them. my friend did all of them hm) that you like most. the length is about 2 pages of paper. the committee will give the paper. in my year, those topics were if you could rule the world for a day what rules would you give to your people and why, if you were reborned what would you be or do and why. i forget the third one lol but basically it was just about you general personality. it’s so much easier than the rest of the test. the thing that you have to concern is that it’s an argumentation passage. you have to give your arguments and examples.

well, honestly, the topics are changed every year. so, you just have to be ready

the second test is the general knowledge yada yada. it’s the most difficult one trust me. it’s not kinda thing that you can learn in one day, on week, or even one month. it asks events in a year. so, you really need to like reading newspaper, watching news program, and knowing so much thing. really. i’m not kidding.

the third one is english. well, no comment. it’s yeaaah so so. it’s quite easy but not that easy. the hardest part is vocab. not easy one, but uncommon one i guess. like when it says ‘what’s lion’s baby called ?’. yaaaaaaah, something like that laah.

so, overall, you don’t have to memorize so much thing, but well you just have to count on yourself
